Certified Fastener Specialist (CFS): Advanced Fastener Expertise & Industry Compliance

Last updated on October 28, 2024 02:27:00 PM

A Certified Fastener Specialist (CFS) is a designation that signifies an individual has undergone specialized training in the fastener industry. The certification is awarded to professionals who complete comprehensive coursework and pass exams covering topics related to fasteners, including their materials, coatings, applications, and standards. The certification provides individuals with in-depth knowledge of various fastener types, their use in manufacturing, construction and maintenance, and industry best practices.

The training typically includes subjects such as:

  • Fastener materials (steel, stainless steel, alloys, etc.)
  • Types of fasteners (screws, bolts, nuts, washers, etc.)
  • Threaded fasteners and their properties
  • Coatings and treatments for corrosion resistance
  • Torque and tension calculations
  • Industry standards (such as those from ASTM, ISO, SAE)
  • Quality control and testing

At Olander, we continue to invest in our employees by providing opportunities for them to become Certified Fastener Specialists. This not only allows them to become subject matter experts in order to best serve our customers, but also aids in ensuring compliance with industry standards. Our Washington General Manager, Heath Fletcher, recently earned his Certified Fastener Specialist designation and we have four more employees scheduled to complete their CFS in the next 6 months.
